Where's Iraq? Uh, I don't know. How about India? Israel? Nope, not a clue. Shouldn't you know where countries in the news are? Heck no, according to seven of 10 people age 18-24 in a 2006 Roper survey. So the National Geographic Foundation launched the "My Wonderful World" campaign to try to turn things around. Much of the site is a repackaging of the National Geographic's kids games, but some games are challenging. The Geobee Challenge posts five new questions every day. (Which state borders more Canadian provinces than any other state? Hint: It's Montana.) The "Wonderful World" site also offers resources for educators, which are meant for high school teachers. However, unless your students picked up a sudden appreciation for geography after leaving high school, you might find the resources useful. And if you're a young adult who thinks that English is the world's most common native language, as did 74 percent in the 2006 survey, please, start clicking.
