To reinforce some basic grammar, I have students do worksheets from the "Working with Words" or "When Word Collide" workbooks. I then divide them into four teams and appoint a time and score keeper. We go through each question in the exercise. The first team gets 15 seconds to come up with the right answer.
If they are right, they get the point. If they are wrong, the second team gets 10 seconds to do it right. If they get it wrong, the third team has five second do get the right answer.
Obviously, this does not work for multiple choice or right or wrong exercises. The students enjoy the competition. Sometimes I give them a point only if they can correctly explain their answer.
