Copy editors across all levels of experience earn more than reporters, graphic artists and photographers - and have for years. According to data collected by the Inland Press Association, the national average salary for an entry-level copy editor in 2006 was $31,464, compared to $29,262 for reporters, $27,460 for graphic artists and $30,543 for photographers.
